Quench & Temper Systems
Thermatool's Harden and Temper Systems feature Solid State Induction power supplies, HAZControl Technology product heating modeling and control system, as well as a high technology modular precision quench system. Effective Hardening and Tempering requires the ability to deliver uniformly heated material to achieve optimum product straightness and minimal quench cracking.
ThermaTunnels, electric resistance heated, barrel furnaces are placed between the induction coils and quench system where necessary, to achieve extended time at temperature to assure complete solution of chromium carbides.
Our standard systems can process 10, 20 or 30 tons per hour for the following:
- Austenitizing: Utilizing VIP series medium frequency inverter systems
- Quench: Utilizing Thermatool's precision quench system
- Tempering: Utilizing VIP induction, gas or electric furnaces
Where necessary, to achieve extended time at temperature to assure complete solution of chromium carbides ThermaTunnels – electric resistance – heated, barrel furnaces are placed between the induction coils and quench system.
For longer cooling times, an offline, chain driven cooling bed can be provided which rotates the tubes as they cool. A slotted ring quench after complete solution treating provides very rapid, uniform heat extraction and superior straightness.
